For Local Festival

In celebration of Jewish
Music Month, seven
synagogue youth choirs in
the Detroit area will appear
jointly at a city-wide choral
festival, 2 p.m. March 29, at
Cong. Beth Shalom.
Participating choirs will be:
Cong. Beth Shalom, Cantor
Samuel Greenbaum, director;
Cong. Beth Abraham Hillel
Moses, Cantor Ben Zion
Lanxner, director; Temple Is-
rael, Elaine Greenberg, direc-
tor; Cong. Shaarey Zedek,
Robin Schakne, director;
Cong. Shaarey Zedek, Lans-
ing, Cantor Bruce Wetzler,
director; Temple B'nai Israel,
Toledo, Cantor Gary Zener,
director; and Hillel Day
School, Zena Shoichet, direc-
tor.
Admission is free, and the
community is invited. The
Choral Festival is sponsored
by the Cantors' Council of
Detroit, and is coordinated by
Cantor Chaim Najman,
president of the Cantors'
Council.

Girl Scouts are selling Girl
Scout cookies through Sun-
day. The cookies bear the OU
Kashrut emblem. The Girl
Scout cookie sale generates
more than 51 percent of _the
Girl Scout annual operating
income.
Money from the sale de-
frays the cost of sending girls
on travel opportunities, sup-
ports camp maintenance and
programs, provides funding
for local troop projects, pro-
vides leadership training of
6,000 adult volunteers and
helps fund specialized pro-
grams for Arab and Latino
girls.
Girl Scouts will sell seven
varieties of cookies at booths
in local banks, supermarkets
and stores during the cookie
