THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS

for
Eugene Friedman's 40th
birthday by wife Tamara at
Potomac Club . . . Balloons
galore, food aplenty, drinks
never stopping and everybody
funfesting to the d.j. rhythm
and blues and disco music.
At table with Frieda and
myself were Betty and car-
diologist doc Robert Gerisch,
Leah Marks and Shirley and
Jack Iden ... Bob gave me a
copy of his new paperback
book, The Human 'Body
Owner's Manual' . . . Title is
"The Gerisch Method" ... of
stress and tension prevention
... I haven't finished reading
it yet, but so far, the book is
very enlightening.
Betty and Bob are also
celebrating their 41st an-
niversary ... and Betty sang
to Eugene in short programs
that also had Tamara reading
him a poem ... and their
swell daughters, Ettie and
Gabbie, also reading dad a
touching poem.
Tee shirts for everyone ...
mistake had "Eugenen" writ-
ten on them ... Eugene wore
name tag that read, "I am
Eugene" ... Tamara poured
champagne but shook the
bottle first ... and poof
all over it went when the
cork popped ... Too bad I had
to leave ... understand Tam-
ara was dancing on the ta-
bles.
Her sharing of beauty
secrets is March 24 at Art
Moran Pontiac on Telegraph,
6 p.m. ... Gal to call for
reservations is Vicky Brun-
ton, 354-9760.
WHO SAYS YOU can't
grow hair on balded pates?
... Not Dr. Gerald Weingar-
den of Livonia ... or the na-
tion's 66 percent who have
made the discovery ... He is
one of the very few docs in
country with formulation
therapy not commonly used
before ... Results happen
within four months . . . It's so
successful that Livonia
beauticians and barbers are
sending people to Gerry.

sour

this year . . . by Rabbi Jeffrey
Gale, chaplain at Jackson
State Prison, for funds to
purchase necessary Passover
needs.
Plans are being made for
the annual Jackson Prison
seder ... and contributions
are very much in need ...
Send checks payable to
Jewish Inmate Benefit Fund,
Temple Beth Israel, 801 West
Michigan Ave., Jackson,
Mich. 49202, c/o Rabbi Jef-
frey Gale ... Receipts will be
sent on request.
Our community has never
let the inmates down ...
Send that check today . . .
The prisoners appreciate it
very much.

AN "INTERNATIONAL
AFFAIR" says Ari Freed of

Freed's Men's Wear in
Windsor . . . Susan Shipko,
daughter of Roz and Dr. Leo
Shipko, West Bloomfield ...
and Dan Orman, Freed's
manager and buyer, son of
Windsor's Diana and Alan
Orman ... with middle-aisle
session to happen early fall of
this year . . . Ari is Dan's
cousin.

PERSONALIZATION IN
BUSINESS isn't dead yet ...

at least not at Efros Drugs in
New Orleans Mall, 10 Mile
and Greenfield ... Guys like
bossman Jerry Efros, Lou
Lynden and Marty Murav
make customers "feel at
home" ... and seem con-
cerned with their problems
. . . These touches are very
important ... and most com-
forting . . . Confidence has
always been a keyword in the
drug store business and Efros
never lost it ... Jerry was
New Orleans Mall's first ten-
ant 25 years ago ... moving
there after nine years on
Nine Mile and Scotia in Oak
Park.
JON CHUDLER, son of
Brenda and Jerry Chudler,
received a surprise phone call
from Alyssa Milano, star on
TV's "Who's The Boss" ...
congratulating him on his
upcoming bar mitzvah
(March 28) ... Jon is a big
fan of Alyssa.

TYPO, ERRATA, ETC.
DEPT. . . . Nathanson's

name was left off mail dept.
item of last week ... Sorry
Buddy.
CONGRATS . . . to Max
and Molly Weisman ... on
their 50th anniversary . . .
Brunch party is set for Sun-
day at Furniture Club . . . by
daughter Annette (Langwald)
and hubby Dr. Frank Kozin
and daughter Doris and Mar-
shall Shanbrom.

SECOND ANNIVER-
SARY of Mail Boxes Etc.,

U.S.A. at La Mirage on
Northwestern Hwy.
brings out fact that it has be-
come the first sub contract
station for Southfield U.S.
Postal Service ... But that
isn't all ... Maryane and
David Einstein and their
staff now give total service
such as packing, shipping,'
mailing ... plus free pickups
and delivery ... Maryane
and David even have butter-
less and salt-free yellow pop-
corn ... You won't believe
the many things offered by
them ... truly unbelievable!

LORRAINE SCHULTZ is
chairgal of this year's
"Fashionscope '87" by Hud-
son's Oval Room, this Wed-
nesday at Westin Hotel ...
Social hour is 11 a.m. and
luncheon 12 noon .
