Auschwitz Exhibition
May 17-29 At USW

Plans for the Detroit show-
ing of the exhibition "Au-
schwitz: A Crime Against
Mankind" are being com-
pleted, according to Melba
Winer and Alex Ehrmann,
chairmen, with an impressive
list of honorary chairmen, in-
cluding Governor James J.
Blanchard, Mayor Coleman
A. Young and the presidents
of Michigan universities and
colleges.
The exhibition will take
place at Wayne State Univer-
sity Community Arts Gallery,
May 17-29.
The steering committee in-
cludes Professors Richard J.
Bilaitis and Sidney Bolkosky,
Marleie Borman, Betty Rot-
berg Ellias, Harold D. Gales,
Dorothy Kaufman, Bernard
S. Kent, Diane J. Klein, the
Rev. James R. Lyons and
Ethel Safir.

Opening ceremonies chair-
men Lawrence S. Jackier and
Dulcie B. Rosenfeld are plan-
ning a by-invitation program
for May 17. Sponsoring the
exhibition locally are the
Jewish Welfare Federation,
the Jewish Community
Council and the Holocaust
Memorial Center. Cooperat-
ing organizations are The
Ecumenical Institute for
Jewish-Christian Studies and
the Polish-American Con-
gress, Michigan Division.

To date, 32 tours have been
scheduled through the Jewish
Community Council schools,
as well as 20 community
groups and organizations.
The exhibition is sponsored
nationally by the United
Jewish Appeal and is on loan
from the Auschwitz State
Museum in Poland.

Investing In Israel
Topic of Conference

"Investing in Israel - Op-
portunities for the Individual
Investor" is the focus of the
conference co-sponsored by
the major Jewish organiza-
tions in metropolitan Detroit
on March 29 at 1:30 p.m. at
the main Jewish Community
Center.

the American-Israel Chamber
of Commerce of Michigan
(A.I.C.C.M.) is conference
chairman, and Rick
Rosenhaus, Zionist Organiza-
tion of America (Z.O.A.), and
Isaac (Ike) Engelbaum
(A.I.C.C.M.) are conference
co-chairmen.
Co-sponsors to date include:
B'nai B'rith, Technion, ZOA,

Israel Bonds, Jewish Welfare
Federation, Jewish Commu-
nity Council, Detroit Zionist
Federation, American-Israel
Chamber of Commerce, Israel
Aliyah Center, Hadassah,
Labor Zionist Alliance
(L.Z.A.), and Histradrut. The
conference will include an
overview by Elmer Winter,
chairman, Committee for the
Economic Growth of Israel,
who will highlight the "Ten
Ways to Invest in Israel," fol-
lowed by Gabby Levy, the
new economic minister for
the Israel Economic Offices in
New York. Levy will provide
an update on the status of
the Israeli economy and list
the governmental incentives
for investing in Israel.
