Applebaum of Bloomfield
Hills announce the engage-
ment of their daughter, Lisa
Susan, to Jerome David
Friedman, son of Judge and
Mrs. Benjamin Friedman of
Oak Park.
Miss Applebaum earned a
Bachelor of Arts degree in
the history of art at the Uni-
versity of Michigan. She is
employed at Arbor Drugs,
Inc.
Her fiance earned a
Bachelor of Arts degree in po-
litical science at Michigan
State University. He is direc-
tor of marketing at Great
Lakes Infotronics.

Jews, Armenians Meet
To Discuss Genocide
Jews and Armenians will
share their experiences about
the horrors of genocide in
free public lectures March 24
and April 3 at Oakland Uni-
versity.

Raul
Hilberg, -
Holocaust expert and author
of The Destruction of the
European Jews, will speak
twice on March 24; at 3 p.m.
in the Gold Room of OU's
Oakland Center and again at
7:30 p.m. in the Holocaust
Memorial Center in West
Bloomfield.
On April 3, OU will host
guest lecturer Leo Kuper, pr-
ofessor emeritus of sociology
at UCLA and author of
Genocide. He will speak at
noon in the fourth floor con-
ference room of Varner Reci-
tal Hall and again at 3 p.m.
in room 200 of Dodge Hall.
Also on April 3, Dr. Vahan
Tootikian, pastor of the
Armenian Congregational
Church in Southfield, will be
keynote speaker in a
lecture-discussion on Arme-
nian genocide. The program
will be at 7 p.m. in Room
156, North Foundation Hall.
Richard H. Lobenthal, direc-
tor of the Michigan Region of
the Anti-Defamation League
of B'nai B'rith will be among
the participants. Dr. Tooti-
kian is also lecturer at Lawr-
ence Institute of Technology
and at the University of
Michigan.
Sponsors for the Dr. Hil-
berg lectures include the
Holocaust Memorial Center,
the Jewish Community
Council of Metropolitan De-
troit, Wayne State
University/Oakland Univer-
sity Hillel, and Amnesty
International-OU chapter.
Since 1956 Dr. Hilberg has
been teaching at the Univer-
sity of Vermont in Bur-
lington, and he has lectured
throughout the world on the
nature and importance of the
Holocaust.
Prof. Kuper is a noted ex-
pert on curriculum develop-
ment on the topic of genocide.
