AJCampaign End Nears

Thousands of Detroiters con-
tinue to write history as the
1987 Allied Jewish Campaign
heads towards its closing cele-
bration in another month.
To see how far the Campaign
has come so far, Chairmen
Paul D. Borman and Emery I.
Klein have scheduled a Purim
breakfast with the national
chairman of the United Jewish
Appeal, Martin F. Stein,
March 15 at 9:30 a.m. in the
LaMed Auditorium, in the
main United Hebrew Schools
building. The Campaign closes
on April 9.
Stein has held leadership
positions in a wide variety of
humanitarian organizations,
both nationally and in his
home town of Milwaukee,
where he served as president of
the Jewish Federation and
chairman of its campaign.
Among his achievements as
a UJA leader was the chair-
manship of the Special Task
Force for Operation Moses, an
effort that mobilized a cam-
paign raising more than $60
million in less than four
months for the resettlement of
Ethiopian Jews in Israel.
Campaign volunteers are
being asked to cover all as-
signments, so that division re-

ports can be given at the meet-
ing.
