Parenting Series
At JPM Branch

The Jimmy Prentis Morris
Branch of the Jewish Commu-
nity Center will offer an orien-
tation for its parenting series,
"If Only I,"at 7:30 p.m. Thurs-
day in rooms 8 and 9 of the JPM
Branch.
Bessie Levin is the creator of
the program. Ms. Levin is a
child specialist with a master's
degree in early childhood edu-
cation and parenting.

The JPM nursery will have a
pre-Purim breakfast for dads,
grandfathers and uncles at
7:45 a.m. March 13 at the JPM
branch. There is a nominal
charge.
An intergenerational Purim
celebration with the Michigan
Light Opera Co. performance
of Hansel and Gretel will take
place at 2 p.m. March 15 in the
JPM's Jaffe Hall. All are in-
vited. There is a charge. For

Maple/Drake site.
The day will begin with a
Purim parade, stories per-
formed by Corinne Stavish, a
carnival, and a Purim play,
The Mask of Queen Esther, per-
formed by Baila Leah Dzodin.
A Hamantaschen bakery,
face painting, games and other
activities will highlight the
day. Barbara Cantor will
supervise activities for chil-
dren 2 1/2 and under.

Running Topic
Of Symposium

Long-distance running will
be the topic of a symposium of-
fered by the Jewish Commu-
nity Center on March 15 at 2
p.m. at the main Center com-
plex.
Dr. Earl J. Rudner, co-
founder of the JCC Runner's
Club, will moderate the pro-
gram entitled, "The Benefits
and Hazards of Long Distance
Running." Experts participat-
ing in the program include
Charlie Blanchard, expert on
running and fitness; Dr.
Jerome Ciullo, orthopedist; Dr.
Barry Franklin, exercise
physiologist; and Dr. Andrew
Hauser, cardiologist.
Each speaker will deliver a
15-20 minute presentation fol-
lowed by a question and an-
swer period. The audience will
have an opportunity to visit in-
formally with the experts
while refreshments are being
served.
There is a nominal charge.
