"Arabs and Jews in Israel —
Confrontation or Coexis-
tence?" will be the theme of a
public forum March 17 at 8
p.m. at Cong. Beth Abraham
Hillel Moses.
Guest speaker will be Dr.
Mordechai Nisan, senior lec-
turer in Middle East Studies at
the Hebrew University,
Jerusalem.
A native of Montreal,
Canada, Dr. Nisan received his
Ph.D. degree from McGill Uni-
versity. Prior to his current
post, he was research fellow at
the Truman Institute of the
Hebrew University. He is the
author of five books dealing
with the Arab-Israeli conflict,
American Mideast policy and
Israel's territorial dilemma.
Dr. Nisan is a frequent con-
tributor to scholarly journals
and his papers on Israel and
the Middle East have been
published in Israel and the
West.
The forum is sponsored
jointly by Cong. Beth Abraham
Hillel Moses and the Zionist
Organization of America,
Metro Detroit District. The
public is invited and there will
be refreshments. At noon that
day, Dr. Nisan will address the
Einstein Luncheon Forum at
Southfield Charley's in South-
field.

The Metropolitan Detroit
B'nai B'rith Council and the
B'nai B'rith Women's Council
of Metropolitan Detroit will
join to honor volunteer BBYO
chapter advisers on March 16
at 7 p.m. at Adat Shalom
Synagogue.
These men and women not
only meet with youth chapters
on a regular, weekly basis, but
also are responsible for super-
vising chapter programs, par-
ticipating in chapter and
regional retreats and attend-
ing training sessions to help
them develop their abilities as
advisers.
Co-chairmen for the eve-
ning's program are Phil
Neuman of B'nai B'rith and
Sharon Moss Lebovic of B'nai
B'rith Women. Also serving on
the planning committee are
Gail Shifman, liaison from the
BBYO board of directors, Gary
Weisserman and Wendy
Goldstein, AZA and BBG
council presidents respec-
tively, and Adele Lewin, staff
coordinator.
The theme for the evening's
program is "Adviser
Jeopardy," and refreshments
will be served. Admission is
free and all members of AZA
and BBG, B'nai B'rith and
B'nai B'rith Women, and the
general Jewish community are
invited.
