Paris (JTA) — Vandals de-
vastated a Jewish community
center at St. German El Laye
near Paris Feb. 16. Commu-
nity leaders estimate the dam- .
age in tens of thousands of
francs but said religious serv-
ices would be resumed. Torah
scrolls were torn, prayer books
were desecrated, furniture was
broken and anti-Semitic slo-
gans were daubed on the walls.

Women's Council
Meets Thursday

The Cooperative Council of
the League of Jewish Women
will meet on Thursday at the
Jewish War Veterans memo-
rial home at 9:30 a.m.
The Cooperative Council is
comprised of ten individual
service organizations.
At this meeting, plans will
be discussed and formulated
for the Passover Seder to be
held on April 16 for the Jewish
retarded.
The Cooperative Council is
chaired by Irene Rodman.

Judith Silverman

Temple Beth El Sisterhood
will host a Shabbat dinner at 6
p.m. and service at 8 p.m. on
March 18. The service will be
conducted by sisterhood mem-
bers and will honor past sister-
hood presidents.
The guest speaker will be
Judith Silverman, first vice
president of the National Fed-
eration of Temple Sisterhoods
and first vice president of her
synagogue, the Cape Cod
Synagogue.
She was recently appointed
to the board of directors of the
Jewish Braille Institute in
New York and serves on the
Social Action Commission of
the Union of American Hebrew
Congregations.
