Bar-Ilan Expands
Slomovitz Track

Bar-Ilan University's Di-
vision of journalism and public
communications has expanded
this past year, especially its
Philip Slomovitz Journalism
Track.
The Slomovitz program was

September 1981: when it
named Slomovitz for an honor-
ary doctorate. He is the editor
emeritus of The Jewish News.
Many courses were added to
the Slomovitz program
throughout the year, and the
professional enrichment pro-
gram will be continued for an-
other year.
The division's library was
enhanced by the establishment
of the Louis Klein Communi-
cations Memorial Library and
with equipment for profes-
sional training.

Jerusalem — A hall full of
computer scientists at the In-
ternational Conference on Dis-
tributed Systems, held in Cal-
gary, Canada, sat with their
attention riveted on the
speaker, a slim, young, Israeli
girl. Presenting her paper with
self-confidence and solid scien-
tific skill, she was treated as a
peer by the 150 experts in her
chosen field.
The speaker was Daphne
Koller, who has completed her
master of science degree cum
laude at the Hebrew Univer-
sity of Jerusalem's Institute of
Mathematics and Computer
Science, at the age of 18.
