Dentists Honor Williams

Dr. Richard Williams of
Birmingham, newly installed
international president of the
Alpha Omega Dental Frater-
nity, will be honored by his De-
troit Alumni Chapter at 6:30
p.m. March 7 at Tam
O'Shanter Country Club.
Dr. Williams is being hon-
ored as the ninth international
president to have come from
this area since the chapter was
founded in 1925. Previous hon-
orees have included • Drs.
Joseph Gruber, Bennett
Sidenberg, Samuel Gerendasy,
Leon Katzin, Louis Galin, Fred
Stein, Jack Lawson and Leo
Shipko.
Dr. Williams is a 1957
graduate of the University. of
Detroit School of Dentistry and
practices in Madison Heights.
He is a past president of the
Detroit Chapter and the foun-
der of its blood bank. He is also
a past chairman of the Dental
Division of both the Allied
Jewish Campaign and Israel
Bonds.
Following dinner and a brief
program, the "Our Richard"
evening of tribute will be cap-
ped by a show featuring the
Detroit Alpha Omega Players.
Members of the "Our
Richard" committee include
Dr. and Mrs. Stuart LaKind,
Dr. Robert Lavine, Ruby Law-
son, Dr. and Mrs. Gerald
Michael, Dr. and Mrs. Joel
Schaumberg, Dr. Leo Shipko,
Dr. and Mrs. Larry Wenokur
and Dr. Marvin Sonne,
president of the Detroit
Alumni Chapter. Dr. Jack
Lawson is the tribute's chair-
man.
The Alpha Omega Interna-
tional Fraternity is a world-
wide organization of nearly
20,000 members and in con-
junction with Hadassah,
founded the Hebrew
University-Hadassah School of
Dental Medicine. The frater-
nity also founded the Tel Aviv

School of Dental Medicine and
maintains various volunteer
dental clinics throughout Is-
rael.

Cancer Patient
Meeting Slated

A Focus on Living (with
cancer) meeting will be held on
Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the
Southfield Civic Center. The
purpose of this self-help group
is to bring together patients
and family members who have
questions or are experiencing
problems as a result of living
with cancer. For information,
contact the American Cancer
Society, 557-5353.

Name Honoree

Milton Weiner received the
Citizen of the Year award at
Michigan Health Care Corp.'s
ninth annual recognition
dinner/dance. Weiner was
cited for his participation in
community work.
