David Susskind, TV Producer Alvin Foon Alvin Nathan Foon, owner of AFC() Manufacturing Co., died Feb. 23 at age 64. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Mr. Foon lived 60 years in De- troit. He founded his company in 1969. Mr. Foon was founder and first president of the Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, founder of Save Our Community Through Kind- ness (SOCK), a member of Pis- gah Lodge of B'nai B'rith, Craftsman Lodge of the Ma- sons, Moslem Temple and the Shriners. He leaves his wife, Shirley; three sons, Ronald, Dr. Ken- neth of Ann Arbor and Dennis of Vancouver, B.C.; and five grandchildren. Dr. R. Kanagur Dr. Raymond R. Kanagur of Southfield, a podiatrist in downtown Detroit for more than 40 years, died Feb. 13 at age 77. Dr. Kanagur moved to De- troit from Buffalo, N.Y. in 1914, attended Cass Technical High School and was graduated from Battle Creek College of Medicine with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He worked as a male nurse at Mc- Lain and Harvard Hospitals in Boston. Although he had a schol- arship to attend Harvard Uni- versity, he lacked sufficient funds to follow through and attended the Chicago College of Podiatry instead, graduat- ing in 1939. He became involved with the Free Foot Clinic at Harper Hospital and at the same time worked at the North End Clinic, which later became Sinai Hospital. He also was on the staff of the Jewish Home for the Aged. He was a life member of the Michigan State New York — Television pro- ducer and talk-show host David Susskind died Feb. 22 at age 66. In an entertainment-related career that spanned nearly 40 years, Mr. Susskind had been affiliated with Hollywood, Broadway and television shows. He was a press agent, a talent scout, an impresario and producer of films, plays and TV programs. He had spent nearly 30 years on the air, having hosted two shows, Open End and The David Susskind Show. In the past year he had produced four TV specials. He put five shows on Broadway and made 13 films. Mr. Susskind received many Emmy awards and other hon- ors for his TV productions. Joseph Mossok Joseph Mossok, consultant to Better Made Potato Chips, died Feb. 22 at age 71. Born in Detroit, Mr. Mossok was the former owner of Ever- crisp Potato Chips which merged with Superior Potato Chip Co., of which he became vice president. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Knights of Pythias. Mr. Mossok leaves a daugh- ter, Ruth Mossok Johnson; three sisters, Mrs. Lillian Spilker, Mrs. Dorothy Engleberg and Mrs. Max (Esther) Gutman, all of California; and four grand- children. Sadie Sandweiss Sadie Sandweiss, a member of Jewish communal organiza- tions, died Feb. 23 at age 80. Born in Russia, Mrs. Sandweiss was a member of Hadassah, Cong. Shaarey Zedek Sisterhood, the Far- band, David-Horodoker Women's Organization and Pioneer Women/Naamat. She leaves two sons, Sheldon and Henry; a brother, Asher Tilchin; a sister, Mrs. Isaac (Marian) Knoppow; ten grand-children and nine great-grandchildren.
