GERTRUDE KAUFMAN,
79, of Southfield, died Feb. 3.
Survived by a son, Jack; two
daughters, Mrs. Harold (Ma-
rian) Weinstein and Mrs. Allen
J. (Annette) Stone; three sis-
ters, Mrs. Bernice Rubenstein,
Mrs. Betty Krinsky and Mrs.
Anne Epstein of Los Angeles,
Calif.; 12 grandchildren and
two great-grandchildren.

in the U.S. Army Reserve for
six years and served with the
323rd General Hospital as a
Ration Breakdown Sergeant,
Specialist 5.
Following his marriage in
1963 and graduation in 1965,
Mr. Brody entered the field of
pharmacy. He was an auxil-
iary policeman and a volunteer
teacher for deprived students
without male role models.
Mr. Brody was past
president and vice president of
the West Bloomfield Estates
Civic Association and a
member of the Farmington
Area Naturalists.
Besides his wife, Anita, Mr.
Brody is survived by two
daughters, Gayle and De-
borah; and his brother, David.

ANNA POLLICOVE, 89,
former Detroiter of Aurora,
Calif., died Feb. 11. Survived
by Oscar and Evelyn Overton;
nieces and nephews.
WILLIAM WILNER, 80, of
Oak Park, died Feb. 13. Sur-
vived by a daughter, Mrs. De-
nnis (Barbara) Freeman; a
brother, Percy of Toronto, Ont.;
two sisters, Mrs. Fern Lirette
of Weston, Ont., and Mrs.
Manny (Polly) Levi of Sher-
man Oaks, Calif.; and four
grandchildren.

Frank Shook
Frank Shook, former owner
of Ace Cosmetics and Vitamins
of Wyandotte, died Feb. 14 at
age 74.
A native Detroiter, Mr.
Shook retired in 1978. He was
a member of Temple Israel, a
member of the Goodfellows and
a member of the Building
Authority of the city of River-
view.
He leaves his wife, Anne;
two sons, Rabbi Mark of Mar-
gate, N.J., and Thomas; four
brothers, David of Cleveland,
Ohio; and Ralph, Samuel and
Harold; a sister, Mrs. Alice
Dunning of McAllan, Tex.; and
four grandchildren.
Joseph Brody
Joseph Abraham Brody, a
pharmacist for 22 years, died
Feb. 11 at age 49.
Born in Havana, Cuba, Mr.
Brody came to the U.S. at age 3
with his brother, David, and
parents, Gerald and Fay
Brody.
He attended Cass Technical
High School and Wayne State
University, where he met his
wife, the former M. Anita
Robert M. Zell, a supporter of
Jewish causes and many De-
troit and Florida civic and cul-
tural groups, died Feb. 14 in
Longboat Key, Fla., at age 75.
A lifelong resident of De-
troit, Mr. Zell was the founder
and president of Brass-Craft
Manufacturing Co. He served
on the boards of the Jewish
Welfare Federation, Fresh Air
Society and Jewish Vocational
Service and Community
Workshop.
He was a founding member
of Temple Emanu-El of Oak
Park and was affiliated with
the Detroit Institute of Arts,
Founders Society, Detroit
Symphony Orchestra, Henry
Ford Hospital, Chamber Music
Society of Detroit and the
Juvenile Diabetes Foundation
of Chicago.
Although a permanent resi-
dent of Florida since 1979, Mr.
Zell remained a steadfast
friend of the Detroit commu-
nity. Together with his late
wife, Sylvia, he endowed a
permanent Allied Jewish
Campaign Fund for the benefit
of the Detroit community. The
Zells also established the
Neuro-Radiology suite at Sinai
Hospital and set up a dance
fund for emotionally disturbed
children at Camp Tamarack.
