This is what happens to many brides. They come in with a preconceived idea, and they go out with anything but what they came in with. I would give the advice of trying on and see what looks good. Don't go to too many stores. It's very confusing. The more •stores you go to, the less you know. They think if they go to a lot of stores, they'll know a lot more. But that's not true in bridal. It's different than ready-to-wear shopping. They should look into as a one-time stop, and they want to get the best for what they are paying. In that case, it goes back to getting something that has quality. Shop in a store that you can depend on. Q: Could you give me a sneak preview of what's coming for fall? A: Well, I can't really tell you because I am now working on this collection. I'm trying to decide which direction to go to. The classic look is the look of importance, because of the economy. Q: Who are some of the celebrities that you have designed gowns for? A: Everyone asks me, but I made a pact with myself that I would not reveal them. In Detroit, of course, I did Kathi Iacocca's wedding. That was a wonderful wedding to do, because she was a charming lady and understanding. I wish all my brides were like her. Q: Who was one of the most intriguing clients you have had? A: There are a lot of them. Of course, you can't deny that anything that happens in the White House is intriguing, because you are involved inside the White House with personnel. I must say everybody has an interesting life. For Grace Kelly's wedding, I did go to her home in New York, and there was a lot of excitement there. Kosher Kitchen Guidelines Come reading is necessary in order to comprehend the logic and meaning of kashrut. As with many Jewish customs, various levels of observance exist. Many books are available, or you may consult your rabbi. Below is a guide in set- ting up your kosher kitchen. • Distinguish the meat and dairy dishes by select- ing different patterns and colors. Coordinate the same col- ors for all miscellaneous meat and dairy items. For instance, yellow towels, dish drainer, etc. for dairy, and red for meat items. • Check recipes and decide which implements and pans are necessary for meat or dairy. Buy the minimum at first, and add as you go along. Generally "good" dishes and silver- ware are reserved for meat for Sabbath and holidays. • Keep a reference book handy in the kitchen. • Label cupboards and drawers on the inside until the habit is firmly established. • Shopping at the kosher butcher is easy. Just ask questions about unfamiliar cuts. • Read labels when shop- ping in the supermarket. Jewelry Care no keep Your gems 1/sparkling. One way is the mild detergent bath. Soak rings in a bowl of warm suds, then scrub with an eyebrow brush. Rinse, pat dry with a tissue. Try another keep-clean method. Mix equal parts of cold water and ammonia in a cup. Soak rings for 30 minutes, and pat dry. No need for rinsing. Use one of the brand- name jewelry cleaners. Be sure the cleaner's safe for all the substances in your ring — diamonds, gold, platinum, etc. Form the habit of remov- ing your rings when apply- ing make-up, and when you do heavy chores — this will keep gems clean, prevent them from chipping.
