Maurice Lax who, for the last

27 years, has directed the Adat
Shalom choir.
Dr. Lax was educated in the
Detroit Public Schools and
attendedWayne State Univer-
sity where he earned a B.A. in
music, 1935; a M.A. in music
education, 1941; and an Ed.D.
in curriculum development,
1966.
Much of his time in Detroit
schools was spent as an ad-
ministrator in the capacity of
assistant principal, and princi-
pal at various elementary
schoolg. He was also the cur-
riculum coordinator for gen-
eral studies at the Hillel Day
School.
Dr. Lax served for a time as a
consultant in the U.S. Office of
Education's "Project Follow
Through". He also taught
English to Russian immig-
rants and developed ESL pro-
grams in Japan, Taiwan, and
Southeast Asia. He also tutors
