Youth Exchange
Program Begun

Members of the Machar
Chapter of B'nai B'rith Girls
and the Kishon Chapter of
AZA, as well as members of the
Metropolitan Detroit Youth
Foundation's (MDYF) Basic
Skills program, are participat-
ing in this year's Urban-
Suburban Youth Exchange
coordinated by the Jewish
Community Council and
MDYF.
Their first group project for
1987 involves a discussion
group based on the six-part
WTVS/Channel 56 mini-series
"Eyes on the Prize," which
deals with the Civil Rights
movement in the United States
from 1954 to 1965.
Purpose of the Youth Ex-
change project is to dispel some
of the misconceptions about
the city of Detroit held by
many suburban residents, help
promote understanding among
different parts of the commu-
nity, and to allow development
of associations between urban
and suburban youth.
Project participants include
Julie Stein, president, Lysa
Stein, and Carrie Bree Rice of
Machar BBG and Glenn
Gayer, president, Bill Neus-
chaefer, Jonathan and Jeff
Dwoskin, Howard Rosher and
Jeff Gruca of Kishon AZA as
well as several MDYF repre-
sentatives.
Adult supervision is being
provided by Roger Winkelman,
Jewish Community Council

Yachad Program
Focus On Shabbat

Yachad, the National Con-
ference of Synagogue Youth's
program which mainstreams
developmentally disabled
teenagers into NCSY activi-
ties, will meet at 2 p.m. Feb. 22
at the main Jewish Commu-
nity Center.
Activities will focus on the
theme Shabbat. Songs, crafts,
games, refreshments will high-
light the afternoon.

skating at Hart Plaza Feb. 21,
meeting at Yeshivat Akiva at 9
p.m. Skating will be followed
by a snack at Dunkin' Donuts
in Oak Park. There is a charge.
The group will go skiing
Thursday at Mt. Brighton Ski
Lodge, meeting at Young Is-
rael of Greenfield at 8:45 p.m.

transportation, ski rental, use
