ors from charitable work .. .
but his most cherished award
came when David's hometown
of Philadelphia proclaimed
"David Brenner Day" . . . In his
youth, being escorted into city
hall by policemen meant he
was to be fingerprinted .. .
This time it meant he was
being presented with keys to
the city.
The Dramatics, a high-
energy rhythm and blues
group, will perform at The
Premier, Feb. 20 and 21 .. .

Couples Host
Syme Concert

David Syme

The Couples Club of Temple
Israel will present pianist
David Syme in concert at 7
p.m. March 22 at the temple.
Syme, the son of the temple's
Rabbi M. Robert Syme and
Mrs. Syme, began his piano
studies with Mischa Kottler
and Julius Chajes. He made his
performance debut at 14. At
18, he played with the Detroit
Symphony Orchestra.
Syme studied with Ozan
Marsh at the University of
Arizona and with Jorge Bolet
at Indiana University, where
he also served as a teaching
assistant. He also studied with
Sascha Gorodnitzki at the Juil-
liard School.
He has appeared in concert
throughout the U.S. and in Po-
land, France, England, Italy,
Germany, Canada, Russia, the
Netherlands and Spain. He
gave a command performance
in Mexico City for President
Lopez Portillo in 1980.
He has several recordings to
his credit as well.
Refreshments will follow in
the temple atrium. Admission
is free. For tickets, call the
