The menu is extremely diversified . . . with six appetizers, six salads, 26 sandwiches that in- clude 15 cold on three types of bread, six melts on grilled pita, three hot and six burgers .. . There are 14 entrees plus eight seafood favorites, a children's menu, seven "side dishes and ten desserts (five homemade.) A breakfast menu has nine omelettes, nine pancakes and blintzes (all made with or without Eggbeaters), with six specials . . . There are 13 lunch specials, and six dinner spe- cials that change daily. The waitresses try as hard as possible to create customer pleasantness . . . and work feverishly toward constant ef- ficiency. Remodeling at Alia's took Jim and Alia six months .. . Today, it has a large green awning outside that seems to set the pace for Alia's color scheme inside. Jim and Alia make friends easily . . . He is always at the restaurant . . . and many cus- tomers have followed him from Remal's in Oak Park. Remal's was their first full- service restaurant . . . Jim and Alia had it a year-and-a-half . . . which time he calls his "learning period". Alia's is one of the few res- taurants that have a Braille menu available . . . The last one was trascribed September 1986 by Ruth Kushner, Sister- hood of Cong. Shaarey Zedek . . . in sponsorship with the Tri-County Braille Volunteers . . .
