Rabbi Zalman I. Posner,
Chassidic philosopher and lec-
turer, will speak on "Think
Jewish," 7:30 p.m. March 1, at
Bais Chabad Torah Center,
5595 Maple Road, West Bloom-
field.
Rabbi Posner has addressed
student groups, professional
societies, congregations and
conventions in 22 states,
England, Scotland, Italy,
Canada, Israel and South Af-
rica. He is an annual lecturer
at "Encounter With Chabad"
weekends where students and
intellectuals experience Chas-
sidic life and thought. He is a
translator and exponent of
Chassidic thought.
Since 1949 he has been Rav
of Cong. Sherith Israel of
Nashville, Tenn., and is foun-
der and head of the Hebrew day
school, Akiva School in
Nashville. In 1948 he was an
emissary of the late
Lubavitcher Rebbe to the DP
camps and Jewish com-
munities of Europe.
The lecture will be followed
by a dessert reception. There is

U-M Scholarship
Cites Slomovitz

The University of Michigan
department of communication
has received a $10,000
endowment to establish an an-
nual scholarship honoring
U-M alumnus Philip
Slomovitz, editor emeritus of
The Jewish News. Slomovitz's
family established the schol-
arship in honor of the jour-
nalist's 90th birthday in De-
cember.
The interest from the
endowment will be used to
make an annual cash award to
an outstanding journalism
student at the U-M, according
to Prof. John D. Stevens,
