Diane and David Snyder of
Hollywood, Fla. are proud to
announce the engagement of
their daughter, Leslie Ellen, to
Dr. Jack A. Pines, son of Lola
and Max Pines of Southfield.

Miss Snyder was graduated
from Tulane University in
1981, summa cum laude, with
a Bachelor of Science degree in
management. She is an appli-

cation specialist employed by
Florida Power and Light Co.
Dr. Pines was graduated
from University of Michigan in
1978 with a Bachelor's degree
in general studies and from
Tulane Medical School in 1982.
He is currently chief resident
in urology at Jackson Memo-
rial Hospital in Miami, Fla.
An April wedding is
planned.

YAD Issues Brunch

The Young Adult Division of
the Jewish Welfare Federation
in its ongoing lecture series
will look at recent church/state
issues at 10:30 a.m., Sunday.
The brunch meeting will be
held in the Friedman Confer-
ence Room of the United He-
brew Schools in Southfield.
YAD is open to young adults of
post-college age through 34.
Speakers will be Richard
Lobenthal, Michigan director
of the B'nai B'rith Anti-
Defamation League, and
Michael Pelavin, president of
the National Jewish Commu-
nity Relations Advisory Coun-
cil (NJCRAC). Both Lobenthal
and Pelavin have extensive
backgrounds in the domestic
agenda of anti-Semitism.
Lobenthal assumed his ADL
post in 1964. During the past
two decades he has also been a
civil rights consultant
throughout the state and has
served on the faculty of a
number of Michigan colleges
and universities.
Pelavin is chairman of the
NJCRAC Domestic Task
Force, past chairman of the
United Jewish Appeal Young
Leadership Cabinet and board
member of the North Ameri-

can Jewish Student Appeal
(past chairman), ORT and
HIAS, where he served as vice
president. He is also a member
of the Commission on Social
Action of Reform Judaism and
served as both president and
campaign chairman of the
Flint Jewish Federation.
Chairmen of the lecture
committee are Dr. Debby
Feinberg, Tamara Gorosh and
Robert Starkman.

Melave -Malka
At Young Israel

Young Israel of Greenfield
will have its annual Melave
Malka on Feb. 21 at 8:30 p.m.
to welcome new members.
The menu will be a
Spaghetti bar and an ice cream
bar for desserts. Entertain-
ment will be provided by hyp-
notist Jim Hoke.
There is a charge. For reser-
vations, call the Young Israel

through Thursday, 12:30 to
