Would you buy a used typewrit-
er from this man?

The year was 1947. The war was over.
The boys were home. Truman was Presi-
dent and this red blooded all American
boy in the true spirit of American in-
genuity—following in the footsteps of
such greats as Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn
and Horatio Alger bought typewriters.
Lots of typewriters. Lots of army issue WWII
used typewriters. Patriotic Detroiters
flocked to his small emporium to buy
these typewriters because, as his mother
said, "He had an honest face." Now he's
taking note of the 2nd annual 39th birth-
day of that strange business venture. An
announcement of a sale in honor of the
event will be forthcoming.

This address will commemo-
rate the 37th Yahrzeit of the
Rebbe's predecessor and
father-in-law, Rabbi Yosef
Yitzchok Schneersohn (1880-
1950), and begins the 38th year
of the Lubavitcher Rebbe's
leadership.

Jewish Community Council,
which now airs at 6:30 a.m.

Israel Protests
Trigger Happy
Charge By UN

Rebbe To Speak
Monday On Cable

Tel Aviv (JTA) — Israel
registered a sharp protest
with the United Nations In-
terim Force in Lebanon
(UNIFIL) last week, brand-
ing as false a charge that
Israel was responsible for
wounding six soldiers of the
Irish contingent whose billet
in the south Lebanon village
of Tibnin was ripped by an ex-
plosion. The soldiers were
asleep at the time.
Maj. Gen. Yossi Peled, com-
mander of the Israel Defense
Force in the northern region,
handed the protest to UNI-
FIL's commanding general,
Gustav Haglund, after the
Irish commander accused the
IDF of opening "tank fire" on
the two-story billet. Unknown
persons are believed to have
planted the explosives.

New York — A public ad-
dress by the Lubavitcher Re-
bbe, Rabbi Menachem M.
Schneerson, will be transmit-
ted live via satellite from
Lubavitch World Headquar-
ters in New York.
The telecast, "An Evening
With The Lubavitcher Rebbe,"
can be seen at 9:30 p.m. Mon-
day on Continental Cable
Channel 11 in Oak Park,
Southfield and West Bloom-
field.

The incident was the se-
cond this month involving
Israel and UNIFIL's Irish
troops. Israel apologized to
Ireland earlier for accidental-
ly causing the death of an
Irish soldier, Cpl. Dermot
McLaughlin, when IDF
tanks fired on suspected ter-
rorist positions in the south
Lebanon security zone and
inadvertently hit a UNIFIL
command post.
