Students Plan
Solidarity Day

The University of Michigan
Student Struggle for Soviet
Jewry (SSSJ) will kick-off In-
ternational ,Solidarity Day
with a full schedule of events
on Thursday.
On the University of Michi-
gan campus,. students will
gather signatures for petitions
and postcards to President
Ronald Reagan and
Secretary-General Mikhail

will highlight the plight of
Soviet Jews. At 7:30 p.m. in the
Pendelton Room at the Michi-

form.
For over two months, indi-
vidual members of SSSJ have
participated in an ongoing
symbolic hunger strike in sup-
port of their adopted family,
the Shpeizmans, in the Soviet
Union. On Solidarity Day,
however, all members will fast
for 24 hours to express their
unified support for suffering
Soviet Jews.
Ms. Charlestein, a resident
of Philadelphia, has traveled
throughout the country offer-
ing a combination of music and
information concerning Soviet
Jewry.
