Southfield Chop House, on
Southfield and 10 Mile, now
has music and dancing Wed-
nesday through Saturday from
9 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. . . . It fea-
tures Regina Coles and Lynn
LaPlant, who perform four
shows per night with continu-
ous music. The duet plays a
wide variety of tunes from the
'40s right through the '80s, and
they don't shy away from re-
quests. Regina Coles not only
has a fantastic sultry voice
(reminiscent of Stephanie
Mills,) she is very comfortable
with the audience, including
them in her performance. The
very talented Lynn LaPlant
seemed to prefer the hidden re-
cesses of his MIDI system
(drum and synthesizer equip-
ment). He certainly succeeded
in making his one-man band
sound like a full orchestra.
"Dimitri's also offers a ten-
item lighter menu for this
separate room which seats 60.
No reservations are taken for
the room, but people can still
make reservations in the main
dining room for their full
dinner menu, which, inci-
dently, will soon include a
Heart Smart menu.
"For opening night, the
crowd was almost a packed
house. Marty and Fay
Weinstock, Shirley and Ray
Abrams, Herman Fenster,
Sharon Kottingham, Sam Loc-
ricchio of Lorio-Ross, Bill
Davidson, etc. . . . General
Manager Penny Heater took
over while Dimitri 'Jim' Syros
was out with the flu and did an
outstanding job of coordinating
the entire dancing opening."
