Kach Party leader claims his message is the same and
support has increased

Rabbi Meir Kahane described his
visit to Detroit on Wednesday as part
of a "consciousness raising tour. I want
Jews to hear Jewish views rather than
the views of Jewish leaders. I want
them to hear Meir Kahane, not to hear
about Meir Kahane."
Kahane's appearance at the
Ramada Inn in Southfield was spon-
sored by the Committee for the Jewish
Idea and was denounced publicly by
the heads of the Jewish Community
Council and Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion.
At an afternoon interview with
The Jewish News, Kahane said his
message is the same as during his last

appearance in Detroit in November
1985.
"My message hasn't changed
since 1975, since 1965," he answered.
"I don't change . . . What has changed
is my support. There are now 24 chap-
ters of Kach (Kahane's movement) in
the United States. We're receiving
support from a socio-economic group of
Jews who never gave before — weal-
thy Jews."
He contended that his support in
Israel has mushroomed. "The next
election will be an earthquake. We'll
easily be the third largest party."
There will be no Likud government
with out Kach, he predicted.
\ Kahane was elected to Israel's
Knesset in 1985 as his Kach (Thus)
Party's sole representative. Central to
