Cantors To Celebrate
Anniversary In Israel

Six local cantors will lead
tours of congregants and mem-
bers of the community to the
Cantors Assembly of Ameri-
ca's annual convention, to be
held in Jerusalem July 7-21, a
celebration of the organiza-
tion's 40th anniversary.
Cantors Chaim Najman and
Sidney Rube of Cong. Shaarey
Zedek, Cantor Max Shimansky
of Cong. Beth Achim, Cantor
Samuel Greenbaum of Cong.
Beth Shalom, Cantor Louis
Klein of Cong. B'nai Moshe
and Cantor Larry Vieder of
Adat Shalom Synagogue, will
join cantors from the United
States, Canada, Israel and
elsewhere, at a gathering of

musicians, scholars and in-
terested laymen in the two-
week festival of song that will
also mark the 20th year of (2\
Jerusalem's reunification.
Highlights will include: a re-
ception with the president of
Israel and the U.S. ambassador
to Israel, meetings with top Is-
raeli leaders, concerts by can-
tors at Binyanei Ha'ooma in
Jerusalem and Mann Au- ,/\
ditorium in Tel Aviv, a memo-
rial program at Yad Vashem
commemorating the heroic
service of Chazzanirn in the
Holocaust.

chazzanut , Jewish folk music
and folk culture by Israeli
