All-Out Effort Awards for chapters that entered all regional convention contests and programs were handed out to Akiba AZA, Brandeis AZA, Chagall AZA, Jolson AZA, Kishon AZA, Posen AZA, Rose AZA, Samson AZA, Aliyah BBG, Brice BBG, Disraeli BBG, Glazer BBG, Masada BBG, Shalom Aviv BBG and Shoshanna BBG. The AZA Basketball League will begin Sunday, and will meet on consecutive Sundays through April. Games will be played at Oakland Community College, Orchard Ridge cam- pus, at 9 a.m. Applications for the league are available from all AZA chapter presidents or from the BBYO office. Supplementary registration for the league will be accepted through Feb. 9. Coordinator of the AZA Basketball League is Rob Weiss of Hart AZA. League administrator is De- nnis Brenner. Volunteer chapter advisers from throughout the Met- ropolitan Detroit area, Ann Arbor and Windsor will attend the Adviser Continuing Edu- cation Weekend this weekend at the 'Charles and Florence Milan BBYO Conference Centre in Belle River, Ont. This annual training retreat for adult advisers features both educational sessions and op- portunities for shared consul- tation in chapter problem- solving. The guest speaker for the weekend is Marlene Zakai of Washington, D.C., the newly-appointed BBYO inter- national director of program services. Applications are being ac- cepted by the AZA annd BBG Councils for the chairmanship of the forthcoming Elections Training Conclave, May 15-17, at Camp Maas. Akiva Student Tops In Math Dov Chelst, a tenth-grade student at Akiva Hebrew Day School, finished in the top five percent of the over 23,000 high school students in Michigan who took Part I of the 13th An- nual Michigan Mathematics Prize Competition. Dov and about 1,000 other students will compete in the second and final part of the competition. The competition is sponsored by the Michigan Section of the Mathematical Association of America. Dov is the son of Dr. Kenneth and Dr. Tamy Chelst of Oak Park.
