Dr. and Mrs. Gerald Loomus
of Southfield announce the
engagement of their daughter,
Deborah Jean, to Dr. Steven
Alan Portney, son of Dr. and
Mrs. Jack Portney of Flint.
Ms. Loomus is a senior medi-
cal student at the University of
Michigan and will become a
resident in obstetrics and
gynecology following gradua-
tion. Her fiance is a graduate of
the University of Michigan
Medical School and is cur-
rently an internal medicine
resident at the University of
Minnesota.
A June wedding is planned.

Charles Brasch of Southfield
announces the engagement of
his daughter, Karen Sue, to
Robert Paul Schwartz, son of
Michael and Janice Schwartz
of Birmingham.
Miss Brasch, daughter of the
late Blanche Brasch, was
graduated from the University
of Michigan and acquired a
master's degree in advertising.
Robert was graduated from
Michigan State University and
is involved in business locally.
A May wedding is planned.
