This was not my first visit to
Mario's . . . I've been there
many times and have never
had a bad meal . . . Prices are
not out of line . . . and it seems
to get better each time we go
there.
Frank's kitchen presents
about 15 veal dishes . . . plus
flamed specialties (veal olym-
pic, veal piccante, tournedos of
beef, steak Diane, maison ten-
derloin and Englais tender-
loin) . . . 11 fowls, ten steaks
and chops, seven fishes, 10 pas-
tas, 17 appetizers, garlic or
cheese toast, 11 salads, eight
soups, calves liver, sweet-
breads, scallopine of beef Mar-
sala, etc. and 13 desserts.
Caffe espresso is made from
a large, beautiful machine in
back of the room . . . and there's
Irish coffee, cappuccino, cafe
diablo and a generous fruit
bowl.
The menu at Mario's is an
interesting one . . . with re-
cipes all its own . . . plus some
specialties based on those of
great restaurants of the world
. . . On the menu back are com-
plete house recipes for veal pic-
cante, scampi (Spanish shrimp
or white gulf shrimp), scal-
lopine of veal, veal olympic and
chicken cacciatore.
The recipes are each for six
portions and by no means
skimpy descriptions of exactly
how to make these fine dishes.
Frank Passalacqua is a very
well-liked person . . . He cares
for people . . . and is concerned
about their satisfaction.
The menu reads, "We at
Mario's believe that a restau-
rant has a personality, a flavor
all its own . . . a character
created by its people. We be-
lieve in the ritual of dining, be
it noon or night. We believe
that the enjoyment of food is
one of life's great pleasures. We
believe that the true measure
of success of a restaurant is the
degree of esteem and pride
gained in the guest's mind and
heart."
This, my friends, is Frank
Passalacqua . . . a superb re-
staurateur . . . and indeed a
true gentleman.

DANCING TO LIVE
MUSIC has begun for the first

time . . . at Dimitri's
Chophouse on Southfield and
Ten Mile Road . . . Wednesdays
through Saturdays.

RIKKI'S AMERICAN
GRILL in the American Cen-
ter Bldg. on Franklin Rd.

seems to be the new "in place"
around these parts . . . Guys 'n
gals meet each other in a beau-
tiful atmosphere of gracious
elegance.
But even more talk is the
raves about Rikki's food .. .
with a complete dining room
menu . . . and snacks in the
lounge . . . Those snacks, by the
way, include "Peanut Butter
With Jelly Sandwich With
Dom Perignon," $97.75 .. .
With a tall glass of milk in-
stead of the champagne, it's
$2.75 . . . Another thing on the
