Beth Achim is accept- ing applications for three scholarships: the Harry and Sarah Laker Israel Youth Scholarship for an academic year of study at an institution of higher learning in Israel, the Samuel and Dora Kobaker Memorial Scholarship and the newest scholarship, the gift of Robert and Gertrude Berman. The Bermans have provided for a $2,500 cash award to be granted for a year's study to a deserving student at an in- stitution of higher learning either in the United States or Israel provided that the stu- dent undertakes a program of Jewish studies at the institu- tion he/she attends. The Kobaker scholarship is available for study on a uni- versity level in Israel or an equivalent program such as in a yeshivah or special cur- riculum of Jewish studies in Is- rael. The purpose of the Yachad program is to give develop- mentally disabled Jews oppor- tunities to learn about and ex- perience their heritage in a so- cial and recreational setting. NCSY members are given the opportunity to develop a greater understanding of the developmentally disabled and a sense of communal responsi- bility for their religious de- velopment. Yachad programs will in- clude Sabbath retreats, learn- ing groups and social activi- ties. Youth Program Funds Available The Zionist Organization of America, Metro Detroit Dis- trict, announces scholarships are available for the Masada summer-in-Israel programs. Nine different programs of- fering high school and college youth a 39-day "Israeli Experi- ence" have been developed by Israeli and American educators with emphasis on exploring Israel's roots and its social diversity. Available programs are: Teenage Camp, Teenage Tour, Leadership Training Course, Summer in Moshav, Masada Kibbutz Program, Masada In- stitute for Water Sports, Mac- cabi Institute for Sports Train- ing, Masada College Seminar and Masada Student Tour (for college students only).
