Agronsky To Address
Testimonial For Cohan

Israel Histadrut of Met-
ropolitan Detroit will pay trib-
ute to Leon S. Cohan, president
of the Jewish Community
Council, at a testimonial
dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday at
Cong. Shaarey Zedek.
Agronsky has been a Wash-
ington and foreign correspon-
dent for each of the major TV
networks — NBC, ABC,. CBS
and PBS. During his caeer he
has been awarded the top
awards of his profession.
The guest speaker will be
Martin Agronsky, veteran
journalist and TV commen-
tator.
In World War II, Agronsky
served as an NBC war corre-
spondent with the British
Army in Greece, the Middle
East and Singapore. After
Pearl Harbor he was a corre-
spondent with Gen. Douglas
MacArthur and the U.S. forces
in the Pacific.

president of the Radio-TV Gal-
leries of the U.S. Congress and
has conducted TV interviews
with six successive American
presidents — Eisenhower,
Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon,
Ford and Carter.
At present, he is moderator
of Agronsky and Company, a
TV public affairs show.
Cohan, who was graduated
from the Wayne State Univer-
sity Law School, practiced law
in Detroit until his appoint-
ment as an assistant attorney
general of the State of Michi-
gan. Promoted to deputy attor-
ney general, Cohan held that
position longer than anyone in
Michigan's history.
Cohan came back to Detroit
in 1973 when he accepted the
position of vice president and
general counsel of the com-
pany.
Cohan is a member of the
Michigan Council for the Arts,
and he serves as adviser to the
arts commission of the city of

Michigan State Board of
Ethics, a trustee of Sinai Hos-
pital. He also is president of the
Jewish Community Council of
Metropolitan Detroit.
Featured on the program
will be Philip Marcus Esser
and Barbara Bredius. Proceeds
from the Leon S. Cohan Tes-
timonial Dinner will be used to
supply equipment and to assist
in the construction of a new
building for the Amal Voca-
tional High School in Safed, Is-
rael.
