Hillel Lectures
Focus On Women

The B'nai B'rith Hillel Found-
ation at the University of
Michigan announces that Prof.
Tikva Frymer Kensky will
present three lectures in the
Women in Judaism series. All
lectures are free and open to
the public, at 7 p.m. in the
Hillel Auditorium, 1429 Hill
St., Ann Arbor.
"Women in Jewish Law,"
will be Monday's topic. The
focus will be on the halachic
(Jewish law) prescriptions and
proscriptions for women and
how they have changed.
"Women in Jewish Life," will
be presented on Feb. 16. Prof.
Kensky will examine the role
of women in Jewish communal
and ritual affairs. "Women in
Jewish Thought," March 16,
will focus on both what Jewish
thought has taught about
Jewish women and what
women are adding to Jewish
thought.
Prof. Kensky holds a Ph.D.
degree in Assyriology. She is
currently writing two books:In
the Wake of the Goddesses and
Motherprayer. She is the in-
structor of Women and Reli-
gion at the University of
