JOSEPH TRACHT,
Dora Messenger, a retired
claims investigator for the
MESC, died Jan. 8 at age 75.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, Mrs.
Messenger lived more than 30
years in Detroit. She retired in
1976.
Mrs. Messenger was a volun-
teer for the Jewish Association
for Retarded Citizens, having
worked in the JARC offices for
many years. She was honored
by the JARC last year with its
"volunteer of the year" award.
She has worked in numerous
political campaigns, particu-
larly for Doug Ross, state
commerce director, when he
ran for the State Senate.
In Toledo, she was a member
of Cong. Etz Chayim. In De-
troit, she was a member of
Hadassah and City of Hope.
She leaves a sister, Ruth
Sherman of Onstead, Mich.; a
brother, Sam Wengrow; nieces
and nephews. Interment To-
ledo.
Dr. Samuel Silver
Dr. Samuel Charles Silver, a
dentist for more than 50 years,
died Jan. 13 at age 86.
Born in Russia, Dr. Silver
was graduated from the Uni-
versity of Michigan Dental
School. He was a member of the
American Dental Association
and a 50-year member of Alpha
Omega Dental Fraternity.
He leaves a son, Dr. Joel; a
daughter, Mrs. Hershel (Joyce)
Stuart; five sisters, Mrs. Jules
(Ida) Gales, Mrs. Benjamin
