Isadore Lazaroff Isadore Lazaroff, who for many years was a principal at Central Overall, died Dec. 26 in Camarillo, Calif. He was 75. The brother of Detroit com- munal leader Emma Lazaroff Schaver, Mr. Lazaroff lived many years in Detroit, prior to moving to California. With his late brother-in-law Mr. Morris Schaver, Mr. Lazaroff was in- volved in the Labor Zionist movement and other Jewish communal causes. He also was a supporter of Israel univer- sities. He is survived by his wife, - Annette; two daughters, Mrs. Jerrold (Elaine) Lindner and Beryl Rothenberg; three brothers, Morris of St. Louis, Mo., Al and Aaron, both of Los Angeles; two sisters, Mrs. Schaver of Southfield and Jerusalem and Mrs. Robert (Edith) Tannenbaum of Car- mel, Calif.; and three grand- children. Abe Lapides Abe Lapides, owner of Os- mun's Men's Wear, died Jan. 2 in Florida at age 84. Born in New York, Mr. Lapides founded his company in 1931 and was active in the business until his death. He was a member of Franklin Hills Country Club, was past president of Temple Beth Jacob, was former Pontiac Un- ited Jewish Appeal chairman, past president of the Pontiac Boys Club. In 1944-1945, Mr. Lapides was chairman for Pon- tiac war bonds drives. He leaves his wife, Nellie; two sons, Gordon of San Fran- cisco, Calif., and Jerome; a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Wach- ler; three sisters, Mrs. Betty Cohen of Florida, Mrs. Sally Siegel and Mrs. Ida Levine; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Molly Starman Molly Starman, past presi- dent of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans, Post 474, died Jan. 6 at age 75. Born in Toronto, Ont., Mrs. Starman was a member of Adat Shalom Synagogue and its sisterhood, Order of the Eastern Star, Ladies of Mosaic Lodge, past president of the Adat Shalom Branch, United Hebrew Schools, Parent- Teacher Organization. Golda (Rosenthal) Kavanau, a member of Jewish communal organizations died Dec. 17 at age 86. A former Detroiter, Mrs. Kavanau resided in Beverly Hills, Calif., at the time of her death. She was a past president of Shaarey Zedek Sisterhood and held membership in Hadassah, Women's American ORT, Jewish National Fund, Chil- dren's Home in Denver and City of Hope. She was a worthy matron in the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Kavanau is survived by a daughter, Leslie Caro of Los Angeles, Calif.; three sons, Dr. J. Lee, Richard Alan and Earl William, all of Los Angeles; a sister Mrs. Hyman (Harriet) Beale of Oak Park; six grand- children and one great-grand- son. Interment California. H. Goldenberg Herman Goldenberg, an active member of Young Israel of Greenfield, died Dec. 29 at age 66. Born in Probizshna, Poland, Mr. Goldenberg was the only member of his family who sur- vived the Holocaust. He came to Detroit in 1952. At Young Israel of Green- field, Mr. Goldenberg was the financial secretary and chair- man of fund-raising. He also was a member of various com- mittees. He supported Akiva Hebrew Day School, Yeshivath Beth Yehudah and was a member of the National Council of Young Israel. He devoted his life to Jewish causes and to Israel. Mr. Goldenberg is survived by his wife, Etka; a daughter, Susan; and a son, Zygi of Seat- tle, Wash. Sonia Knopper Sonia Knopper, three times president of the sisterhood at Adat Shalom Synagogue, died Jan. 2 at age 57. Born in Detroit, Mrs. Knop- per also was a member of Adat Shalom Synagogue. She was past president of Franklin Chapter of Hadassah and an honorary life board member of Adat Shalom Synagogue. She leaves her husband, Daniel; a da ,_ighter, Karen; and her mother.
