BELLE RIBIAT, 72, died Jan. 4. Survived by her hus- band, Harry; a son, Laurence; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph (Rochelle) Gruca; four sisters, Mrs. Ann Levin, Mrs. Sidney (Nettie) Ring, Mrs. Julius (Pearl) Bello and Mrs. Sam (Sylvia) Herkowitz; and six grandchildren. Chemist Henry Desmon, Teacher Scout Leader Henry Mark Desmon, former pharmaceutical chemist, died Dec. 27 in West Palm Beach, Fla. At the University of Buffalo, N.Y., Mr. Desmon was a box- ing champion, football player, glee club tenor, manager and editor of several publications, treasurer of his junior and senior classes plus an officer or member of many other clubs. He also received a citation as Outstanding Jewish Student in 1931. A former resident of South- field, Mr. Desmon was a religi- ous school teacher for 40 years, with 30 of those years at Tem- ple Beth El. He was also a member or officer of many of the committees and clubs at Temple Beth El. He spent 50 years affiliated with Boy Sc- outing, which awarded him its highest leadership awards, in- cluding the Silver Beaver, Shofar, Woodbadge and Gol- den Veteran's Awards. He was a Scoutmaster, Cubmaster, commissioner, district execu- tive, leadership trainer, or- ganizer and after his retire- ment from Parke, Davis and Co. in 1970, he worked as Jewish chaplain at the Detroit Area Boy Scout Camp (D-A) during his summers. Mr. Desmon spent his re- tirement years substitute teaching in Southfield junior and senior high schools, prior to retiring to Florida. During his seven years of re- tirement in Michigan, he also re-established and served as editor of the Temple Beth El newsletter, The Mirror, and continued singing in the tem- ple adult chorale, as he did N
