Memorial Council on non-Jews
who helped Jews during the
Holocaust. The conference led
to a five-part radio series, a
movie, The Courage to Care,
(nominated for a 1986
Academy Award for Best Short
Documentary), a viewers guide
for the film, and a book, The
Courage to Care: Rescuers of
Jews During the Holocaust
(New York University Press).
Sister Carol and Sondra Myers
are the co-executive producers
of the film and the co-editors of
the book.
Dr. Rittner received her BA
in English from College Mis-
ericordia, her MA in English
from the University of Mary-
land, and her Ed D in higher
education administration from
the Pennsylvania State Uni-
versity. She is currently com-
pleting another masters de-
gree in theology at St. John's
Seminary, Plymouth, MI. In
1986, Dr. Rittner was made an
honorary fellow of Bar-Ilan
University and she is a reci-
pient of Shaarit Haplaytah's
Righteous Gentile award.

has requested the assistance of
the World Jewish Congress in
locating witnesses to Nazi
crimes committed during
World War II in the vicinity of
the following cities and towns
in Lithuania: Mariampole,
Rokishki, Skaudvile, Svien-
ciany, and New Svienciany
(Svencioneliai).
The department's Office of
Special Investigations (OSI) is
in the process of gathering evi-
dence in connection with its
investigations of suspected
Nazi war criminals residing in
the United States.
Survivors, or those who
might be of assistance in locat-
ing survivors, may contact, in
