Tamarack Camps List
Programs For Summer

Tamarack Camps will offer
several programs this summer.
A new nine-day mini-camp
program for children entering
second grade will be offered. It
will involve first time campers
in group activities from swim-
ming to arts and crafts and
from sports to nature.
Separate nine-day mini-
camps in sports, aquatics, arts
and nature, drama and dance
will be offered to children
entering third-fifth grades, be-
ginning June 23 and July 3. In
addition Camp Tamarack at
Brighton offers three 19-day
sessions for children entering
second through fifth grades.
Sessions begin June 23, July
14, and August 4.
Activity areas at Camp
Tamarack at Brighton include
projects crafts, arts and crafts,
waterfront, nature, video tap-
ing center, sports fields, and
"Dinosaurland." All camp days
include a Fourth of July cele-
bration first session, Mac-
cabiah sports competition sec-
ond session and circus day
third session.
Camp Maas at Ortonville of-
fers a 26-day program for pre-
teens and teens entering
sixth-eight grades. Activity
areas include a ropes course,
climbing tower, Smokler
Pioneer Skills Center,
ceramics shop, Bargman Arts
and Crafts Shops, waterfront,
Nachman Environmenal Edu-
cation Center, winer dance
barn, Mahler Equestrian Cen-
ter, video/computer center,
photography dark room and
athletic fields.
Four-week specialized pro-
grams at Camp Maas include
Kfar Ivri (entering fourth-
ninth graders), a Hebrew
speaking program, dance vil-
lage (entering sixth-eighth
graders), and horseback riding
ranch (entering seventh-
eighth graders). Two-week
skills camps are offered in
sports, waterfront and fine arts
for entering sixth and seventh
graders. Four-week sessions
begin June 28 and July 28.

28 and July 12.
Specialty Village at Camp
Maas is open to entering ninth
and tenth graders and includes
a trip to Mackinac Island.
Campers in this co-ed program
spend their mornings in a spe-
cialty area of their choice. New
this summer is an outdoor ad-
venture specialty which com-
bines orienteering, treks, ropes
course and rappeling. Other
specialty areas are dramatic
arts, sports, aerobics and fit-
ness and waterfront. A new
pioneer adventure program for
entering eighth and ninth
graders will take campers on a
four-day white water rafting
trip to West Virginia, and a
six-day trip to the Canadian
North Woods.
Tamarack Camps, (Fresh
Air Society) is member agency
of the Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion. All programs include
Shabbat celebration, pre-
sentations and events on
Jewish themes, Hebrew sing-

ing and blessings before and
after meals. Each camp has a
select number of counselors
from Israel. For information,

Home For Aged Has
Research Fund

The LeVine Institute on
Aging of the Jewish Home for
Aged has announced the estab-
lishment of the Samuel J.
Greenberg Research Fund to
support medical and social re-
search in the home's three
facilities.
The fund was created in
memory of Greenberg by his
daughter and son-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. Lawrence A. Fleis-
chman of New York City.
Mr. Greenberg, who died in
1971 at the age of 71, was a
member of the Jewish Home
for Aged board for 15 years,
and held the office of treasurer
during part of his tenure.
He also was active on var-
ious Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion committees.

Visitation
Subject Of Talk

The Michigan Inter-
Professional Association on
Marriage, Divorce and the
Family, Inc., will present a
program entitled: "Grand-
parent Visitation: Two Views
on Legal and Psycho-Social
Perspectives," noon Jan. 15, at
the Machus Red Fox Restau-
rant, Bloomfield Hills. A
luncheon will be served.

Library Has
Computer Programs

Southfield Public Library
will offer 200 new Apple com-
puter programs in a collection
called Public Domain Software
on File. Programs can be
copied for personal use free of
charge. Each program is
menu-driven, user-friendly
and thoroughly tested.
The Apple computer is lo-
cated near the fiction desk at
the Southfield Public Library,
26000 Evergreen. It is avail-
able to persons at least 13
years old.

Common Ground
Seeks Volunteers

Persons interested in volun-
teering at Common Ground,
Oakland County's 24-hour
crisis center, are invited to
attend an orientation session,
7:30 p.m. Wednesday at 1090
South Adams, Birmingham.
No appointment is necessary.
