Personalized poems for all occasions.
There's no end to my creations.

are lit may continue to burn
/eyond their anticipated lifes-
pan.
This lesson is applicable to so
many important areas of life.
We bring children into the
world without knowing
whether we will be able to love
them and provide for their
- ut a lifetime.
"needs through o
Only in caring for our children
do we discover and expand our
capacity for love and concern.
imilarly, once we begin to
break the chains of moral com-
pla_ency by giving a minimal
amount of tzedakah, charity,
we soon discover greater
capacities to respond to those
in need. Human capacities and
achievements grow as a result
of action and not as a result of
sublime ideals and noble in-
tentions. The Chanukah lamp
L burned for eight days because
of those who were prepared to
have it burn for only one day.
The eight days of Chanukah
incorporate the miracle of the
first day, which signifies the
miracle of man's courage to
begin to build within imperfect
\--) - mman situations.
There were undoubtedly
many people who were skepti-
cal of the decision to light the
Temple lamp with a single
cruse of oil. "Why light a flame
which is bound to burn out be-
fore the Temple is completely
rededicated? Why initiate a
• process which we cannot com-
r- plete? Wait until the condi-
tions are more favorable."
I -- Those who went ahead and
kindled the lamp ignored such
/=1 "reasonable" voices and
availed themselves of the pre-
cious opportunities at hand.
And the miracle of Chanukah
• occurred.
