Israel Teen
Mission Announced

Applications are now avail-
able for the fourth Israel Teen
Mission, July 6 - Aug. 14, spon-
sored by Tamarack Camps
(The Fresh Air Society) and the
Jewish Community Center.
This unique program pairs
twenty students who have
completed the 11th and 12th
grades from the Detroit area
with twenty students from the
city of Ramla for home hospi-
tality and touring for the
38 day trip.
The touring program in-
cludes 12 days in Jerusalem,
five days in the Negev, two
days in Eilat, five days in the
Galilee, and three days on the
northern Mediterranean
Coast. Activities include des-
ert camping and hiking,
swimming, kayaking and in-
nertubing. Campers live with
families of the city of Ramla,
Deroit's Project Renewal city,
and work on a project to benefit
the neighborhood children.
Prior to the trip there are
weekly seminars on Israeli cul-
ture, customs and history and a
weekend at Camp Maas. Par-
ticipants are asked to share
their Israel experience by
working in a Jewish agency
such as Tamarack Camps or
the Jewish Community Center
the following year or summer
in a salaried position.
Logistical support, including
transportation, housing, tour
guides and equipment is pro-
vided by the Youth and
Hehalutz Department of the
Jewish Agency in Israel. Fi-
nancial assistance is available
for the program.
For information or brochure
and application, call Tamarack
Camps, 661-CAMP.
