Set for the Somerset Inn in Troy, the Food for Thought series is one of the division's new outreach and involvement programs, focusing on current issues affecting the Jewish community. Lawrence, publisher and chairman of the Detroit Free Press, has had a distinguished career in journalism, starting with his first position as a re- porter on the St. Petersburg Times in Florida. He was appointed executive editor at the Free Press in 1978 and became its publisher and chairman three years ago. Lawrence has received several honorary degrees and awards, including the 1986 National Human Rights Award of the American Jewish Committee.
