Europe Mission
Announced

New York — The United
Jewish Appeal Young Lead-
ership Cabinets will sponsor
their first Am Echad Mission
to Western Europe and Is-
rael, March 25-April 5, bring-
ing together young American
Jewish leadership and their
counterparts in Western
Europe and Israel.
Some 400 participants from
across the U.S. are expected
to take part in the six inter-
related Am Echad missions,
spending 3 1/2 days in their
choice of Amsterdam, Lon-
don, Milan, Paris, Stockholm
or Zurich, and then being
joined by representative
young Jewish leaders from
those cities for a joint mission
to Israel.

Compensation
Claims Deadline

Toronto (JTA) — The
United Restitution Organiza-
tion (URO) in Toronto and
Montreal is reminding former
slave laborers who worked in
the factories of Flick-
Dynamit-Nobel during World
War II that they have until
December 31 to file compen-
sation claims.
The giant Flick conglomer-
ate, now known as Feldmuhle
Nobel A-G, was taken over
last year by the Deutsche
Bank, which made available
a lump sum fund of 5 million
Deutschmarks to be used as
compensation for slave labor.
John Stahr of Montreal's
URO office cautions, how-
ever, that these payments are
for labor, not for persecution.
Stahr said all claims must be
fully documented and appli-
cants must prove they
worked in the factories of
Flick, which manufactured
everything from explosives to
