DANNY RASKIN

A RESTAURANT

WEEKEND to be remem-
bered was held by Central
High class of 1956 ... Over
500 guys 'n gals attended re-
union at Roma's of Bloom-
field ... with 70 percent of
the former classmates attend-
ing
from 19 states and
Canada.
Thanks go out to Leonard
Milstone and Jerry Walters
for bringing so many together
... Debbie Goldfine Wasser-
man of Deborah's Invitations,
and barrister Bernard Min-
den were in charge of the
weekend activities that in-
cluded a bus tour down mem-
ory lane ... and a cocktail
party and brunch on Sunday
... all for the out-of-towners.
Lassies in charge of
entertainment were Margo
Woolf Cohen and Liz Walters.
Chorus line of 19 singers
and dancers did a tribute to
all 19 states and Canada ...
and at the end sang of Michi-
gan still being their home ...
Naturally the tears came .. .
especially from Arlene
Greenberg Gett and hubby Al
from Scottsdale, Ariz. ...
They couldn't stop thanking
everyone for such a wonder-
ful time.
"As one of our former
teachers said as she spoke to
the standing room only
crowd," says Debbie, " 'This
was the class that stars
shown upon.' And she was
right. We knew it then in
1956 and after being together
30 years later and seeing the
closeness that only a special
class could have — we know
it now."
NO, MARC FIELDS is
not an 80-year-old midget ...
He's actually just eight years
old ... Typo errata in last
week's column put him 72
years older ... so congrats
again Marc ... This time on
a BIG 8 birthday.
RICHARD GOLDEN is
new president and chief
executive officer of D.O.C.
Optic Corp. ... after special
meeting by its board of direc-
tors ... Dr. Donald Golden,
founder of the optical com-
pany, resigned as president
and C.E.O. ... and is its
newly elected board chair-
man.
Richard is son of Donald
and Norma ... who joined
D.O.C. in 1977 after a nine-
year career in broadcast sales
and management ... He

University in 1969 with a
bachelors degree in com-
munications.
D.O.C. operates 100 units
in eight states ... making it
the nation's sixth largest op-
tometric chain.
