Announcing!

A DAY IN
"PARADIS

became pregnant with our
first child."
A beautiful, bouncy, red-
haired girl, Shana Hope was
born in February, 1976, fol-
lowed four years and four
months later by Michael Eli
Joseph Stark.
After awhile, Itzhak opened
up his own business, instal-
ling sprinkler irrigation sys-
tems. In 1980, the Starks
moved to Boca Raton, Fla.
"For Itzhak, living in
Florida was wonderful since
the climate there is so close
to Israel's. I wasn't very
happy there as I found it to
be a 'stuffy society'. If you
weren't a doctor or a lawyer
making loads of money, you
weren't considered impor-
tant."
After five years in Boca,
the family moved to
Raananah, a suburb of Tel
Aviv. "In Israel the people
are very friendly, sometimes
too much so. Everyone is al-
ways interested in everyone
elses' business. My children
have picked up Hebrew with
no problem but at age 38, my
desire to learn another lan-
guage is just not there. All
my life I've been transient.
After 40 years of roaming, I
hope I've finally found a
home."

Judge Orders
Vanunu Held
In Custody

Jerusalem (JTA) — Mor-
dechai Vanunu, accused of
passing State secrets con-
cerning Israel's alleged
nuclear weapons arsenal to a
foreign newspaper, will re-
main in custody pending a
hearing on the Prosecutor's
request that he be held in jail
until the end of his trial,
Jerusalem District Court
Judge Zvi Tal ruled last Sun-
day. No date has been set for
the hearing.
Tal also rejected a request
by Vanunu's attorney, Amnon
Zichroni, to hold the hearings
in public. The trial, when it
begins, is expected to last
about six weeks. Seven wit-
nesses will appear for the pro-
secution and five or six for
the defendant, according to
Zichroni. Most of them will be
from abroad and probably
will testify as character
witnesses.
Vanunu, a former tech-
nician at the Dimona nuclear
facility, is accused of giving a
British newspaper informa-
tion alleging that Israel has
been manufacturing nuclear
weapons for 20 years and now
possesses a sufficient number
to rank sixth among the
world's nuclear powers.
The charge sheet against
him was formally submitted
to the District Court and it
appears less than likely that
Vanunu will face the death
penalty.
