Rita Falbel

The Folktown Coffeehouse
will present singer Rita Fal-
bel in concert at 8 p.m. Nov.
22 at the Southfield Parks
and Recreation Building,
26000 Evergreen, Southfield.
Born in Austria, Ms. Falbel
sings in seven languages:
French, Spanish, English,
German, Hebrew, Yiddish
and Ladino. She is trained in
musical theater, classical
music and folk music.
She studied in the U.S. at
the Academy of Music and
Dramatic Art. After getting
her professional start on
stage in Gilbert and Sullivan
repertory, she began to de-
velop her own style and re-
pertoire.
From 1973 to 1975, she
lived in Israel, performing in
clubs and festivals, touring
kibbutzim, moshavim and
immigrant centers and ap-
pearing on radio.
Now based in New York,
she has appeared at colleges,
in clubs and cafes and at
community centers through-
out the country. She released
her first album, Hitchin'
Rides, in 1983.

Main Street," at 7 p.m. Dec. 7

on Main Street.
Entertainment will be pro-
vided by Ortheia Barnes,
Stanley Johnson and Norma
Jean Bell and the All Stars.
Food, dessert and a cash bar

Young Variety Club's
charities for children and re-
search and services for the
