Sports Dinner

David Hermelin and Bill
Davidson will serve as hon-
orary co-chairmen for the
second annual Michigan
Jewish Sports Hall of Fame
Induction Dinner to be held
at Cong. Shaarey Zedek on
Nov. 24.
This year's inductees in-
clude former Olympic Fencer
and Wayne State University
All-American, Byron Krieger,
former University of Michi-
gan All-American football
tackle Mervin Pregulman,
and longtime Detroit area
basketball coach, the late
Philip "Cincy" Sachs.
The highlight of this year's
dinner will be an appearance
by Hall of Fame announcer
Mel Allen as featured
speaker. Channel 7 sportscas-
ter Stu Klitenic will be the
toastmaster.
'The dinner will begin with
a celebrity cocktail hour at
6:30 p.m. with the dinner and
induction ceremony to follow
at 7:30 p.m. For ticket infor-

Names Director

The Arts Foundation of
Michigan (AFM) announces
Kimberly Adams is its new
executive director.
AFM, a statewide, non-
profit foundation, supports •
and recognizes excellence in
the arts. Programs of grants,
awards, scholarships and
commissions are directed to
individual artists and stu-
dents working in music,
dance, theatre, literature and
the visual arts. The Founda-
tion is supported entirely by
contributions from corpora-
tions, foundations and indi-
viduals.

The University of Michigan
Museum of Art (UMMA) is
seeking donations of art and
antiques by Dec. 15 for its
second art and antique auc-
tion and sale.
The auction committee is
looking for a wide variety of
collectible items in good con-
dition, including paintings,
drawings, original prints,
sculpture, Oriental rugs, tex-
tiles, glass, silver, ceramics,
folk art, ethnographic art, art
nouveau, art deco, jewelry,
rare books and maps, photog-
raphy, antiques (including
furniture), and period cos-
tumes — all with a value of
at least $50.
Donations to the auction
and sale made before Dec. 31
are tax-deductible. Individu-
als and businesses who would
like to donate art, antiques,
or collectibles for the auction
