committee of the JNF, and is
presently a board member.
He also has been affiliated
with the Michigan Region
United Synagogue of
America; Anti-Defamation
League; Hillel Day School;
Detroit Chapter of the Zionist
Organization of America's,
Catholic-Jewish Conference,
Butzel Family Camp, Camp
Ramah; Midwest Region of
MERCAZ; State of Israel
Bonds and United Jewish
Appeal. In 1982, Rabbi Nel-
son was elected to the Board
of the Jewish Association for
Retarded citizens (JARC). In
February 1986, he was hon-
ored by the Jewish War Vet-
erans of USA, Department of
Michigan, and in February
1986 he was appointed to the
National Task Force on
Jewish Scouting.
In the ecumenical sphere,
Rabbi Nelson has been in-
volved in the work of the
Greater Detroit Interfaith
Round Table of the National
Conference of Christians and
Jews; former national board
member, Academy of Parish
Clergy; and Jewish represen-
tative of the new religious
movements committee.
Ann Grossman will give
the invocation. Shirley Kraft
is vice president of fund rais-
ing and Bess Axelrod is pro-
gram chairman. Cake and

Cancer Detection
To Be Discussed

Dr. Stanley Halprin will
address the subject of early
breast cancer detection at the
Women's Health Club of the
Jewish Community Center
11:30 a.m. Monday.
Halprin has been a pioneer
in using new methods for the
early detection of breast
cancer. A radiologist, he was
the first physician to use
light scanning equipment and
offer MammaCare Training
in Michigan. His clinics also
offer mammography, radiog-
raphy, ultrasound and diet
counseling.
