Many in our American
Jewish community would be
more than willing to help
prevent Israel losing part of
Jerusalem and to help pre-
vent Israel to become danger-
ously weakened at the mercy
of its enemies, to be only ten
miles wide in the center of
the country. To keep Israel
safe and secure, they would
give without the benefit of
tax-deductions. The problem
is the leadership of the
Jewish National Fund ac-
cepts the U.S. policy of forc-
ing Israel back to the death-
trap lines so they confine
JNF activities within that
area, while falsely suggesting
otherwise.
I wonder what my zayde
would say, now after 3,000
years the Jewish people fi-
nally has its own government
— but the Jewish National
Fund wants to give away the
Land of Israel?

High Court Nixes
Creche Appeal
The United States Supreme
Court's decision Monday may
keep the city of Birming-
ham's Christmas nativity
scene in storage permanently.
The high court declined
Monday to review the 1984
ruling of U.S. District Judge
Anna Diggs Taylor that the
creche violated the First
Amendment separation of
church and state. Judge
Taylor's ruling was upheld
earlier this year by the 6th
U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals
in Cincinnati, Ohio.
