At age 12, Lissa Goldberg is well
on her way to an acting career

n the past year, 12-year-old
Lissa Goldberg has learned to fly,
humbled a wicked witch and trans-
formed herself from a teen-aged
girl to a young boy.
When the stage lights beckon,
her imagination gives life to
some characters quite unlike her
contemporaries at Norup Middle
School, as she slips into various
dramatic roles as easily as some stu-
dents don their Saturday blue jeans.
Lissa is currently portraying
Portia, Cinderella's "mean and
autograph for an ad
I
dumb" step-sister, for the Peanut
Butter Players Theatre Company,
which is running the Rogers and
Hammerstein version of that play at
Detroit's Austin Hall through Dec. 7.
Because the acting group is pro-
fessional, Lissa receives a salary for
her work. She was also given a con-
tract till next spring, but is free to
act with other theatre groups during
the duration of her agreement.
