A late December wedding
is planned.

Southfield Adds Deaf
Communication Device

Deaf and hearing-impaired
residents of Southfield now
have a direct link to the ci-
ty's municipal offices, follow-
ing the installation of a Tele-
communications Device for
the Deaf (TDD) unit at the
city's information center.
The device, which combines
a typewriter-like keyboard
with a small display screen,
allows typed messages to be
transmitted over phone lines,
according to information cen-
ter coordinator Ruth Elias.
The TDD unit in the in-
formation center also will be
available to civic center vis-
itors who need to contact
home, Elias noted. A second
portable TDD unit is being
purchased for the civic center
and will be shared by the
Southfield Public Library, the
parks and recreation depart-
ment and other city offices.
The information center is
using a temporary TDD
number until it can obtain
one that is more easily
memorized. The temporary
TDD number is 354-4831.
