Israeli Youths Will
Perform At JCCenter

The highly acclaimed Is-
raeli singing troupe Orot
Haschuna (Lights of the
Neighborhood) will perform
at the Maple/Drake Jewish
Community Center on Nov.
18.
Sponsored by the Jewish
Welfare Federation in coop-
eration with the Jewish
Community Center, the 13-
member vocal/dance group
will perform at 7:30 p.m.
Their limited national tour
will be highlighted by a per-
formance before 2,000 dele-
gates at the Council of
Jewish Federations General
Assembly in Chicago.

Orot Haschuna's members
are all from Israel's Project
Renewal neighborhoods and
range in age from 17 to 21.
Among the performers are
Galit Sabag, 18, and Irit
Weltz, 17, from Ramla, De-
troit's Project Renewal sister
city.
Project Renewal is a
multi-year plan to improve
the lives of Israel's immig-
rant population through a
special partnership with
world Jewry.
There is a charge for the
Nov. 18 performance. For tic-

State of Israel Bonds, and his wife, Doreen, accepted a
Campaign Achievement Award on behalf of the Detroit Bonds
organization at a recent Israel Bonds National Leadership
Conference held in Baltimore. The presentation, made by Gad
Arbel, right, Israel Finance Ministry's chief fiscal officer for
the Western Hemisphere, awarded Detroit for having the best
professional health services division Israel Bond campaign in
the U.S. during 1985."
