not judge a candidate only on
their pro-Israel record they
fail to say that the reverse is
the case as well, namely that
the Jewish community will
not support a candidate who
is a terrific pluralist on the
one hand but mediocre in
their support of Israel.
The Charles Percys of the
world must know that as a
community we will not for-
give or forget those who vote
against Israel.

THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS

In honor of its 60th an-
niversary, and in partnership
with The Jewish News, the
Jewish Welfare Federation
will sponsor a community-
wide children's poster contest,
on the theme: "We Are One:
Partners for Life — What
Our Jewish Community
Means To Me."
The final event in Federa-
tion's series of anniversary
celebrations, the project is
designed to promote in-
creased awareness among
youngsters of the work of the
Jewish Welfare Federation
and its agencies and the
quality of Jewish life in the
local community.
The competition will be
launched Nov. 2, when Fed-
eration's Women's Division,
School and Youth Committee
and volunteers present con-
test details and entry infor-
mation to students, age 5 to
18, in area day and religious
schools.
Participants will have until
Dec. 15 to submit their
entries, and posters will be
on display at the United He-
brew Schools until winners
are announced at Federa-
tion's annual Super Sunday
telethon on Feb. 1. Prizes will
be awarded in each age cate-
gory and winning posters will
appear in The Jewish News.
Janet; Levine is chairman
of the JWF 60th anniversary
committee; Dulcie Rosenfeld
is adviser. Michael Feldman,
Marjorie Krasnick and
Robert Orley are chairmen of
the poster contest.
