Pieces like this from Rachel Gera's jewelry collection will be
displayed in the Israel Bond fashion show.

Fashion Show Displays
Israeli-Made Jewelry

Rachel Gera's personally
designed and handmade
jewelry will be displayed in
the annual State of Israel
Bond Women's Division fash-
ion show slated to take place
at Cong. Shaarey Zedek on
Wednesday at noon. Admis-
sion is by 1986 minimum
purchase of a $500 Bond.
For the third consecutive
year, Northland Center has
volunteered to produce and
stage the event. The center
will show a large collection of
American designers' fashions
culled from major Northland
stores and boutiques.
Gera's works, which have
been shown worldwide, began
in a little studio in Israel in
1960. She has since moved to
larger quarters in Old Jaffa,
near Tel Aviv, where she has
a workshop and gallery.
During these 25 years, she
has had several one-woman
exhibitions, including the
Goldsmith Royal Hall, Lon-
don, the Magnes Museum,
California, the Spertus
Museum, Chicago, the Jaro
Gallery, New York, and the
Zenith Gallery, Washington,
D.C.

Celebrities who collect her
jewelry include Peter Us-
tinov, Elizabeth Taylor,
Maria Schell and Danny
Kaye.
Gera studied at the Bezalel
Academy of Art in
Jerusalem, and then in the
art department at Oranim,
under the tutelage of the
painter Marcel Janko and the
sculptor Dov Feigin. In addi-
tion to her jewelry, she de-

signs candlesticks and tapes-
tries, creates paintings and
etchings.
Gera's creations will be
used with 13 prominent Is-
raeli fashion designers who
are participating in the show
in honor of Israel's 38th year
of statehood.
For information, call the
State of Israel Bond office,
557-2900.
